PSHE
Intent
PSHE is lifelong learning about physical, sexual, moral and emotional development. It is about the understanding of the importance of stable and loving relationships, respect, love and care for family life. It involves acquiring information, developing skills and forming positive beliefs, values and attitudes.
At Bewley Primary School, we believe the understanding of such values is integral to supporting and developing positive attitudes towards each other and ensuring positive emotional well-being. Embedding our bright, proud and successful ethos we work through our PHSE curriculum to take each child forward, supporting and nurturing each child’s individual needs. The aim of PSHE is to provide balanced information about physical, emotional and online relationships as well as understand their own physical and emotional well-being.
We understand our children and will adapt the PSHE curriculum to meet their needs, including those with SEND. Furthermore, we will ensure that it is appropriate for children’s ages and development stage. In addition, we understand the importance of being sensitive to the needs and cultural/religious backgrounds of the children within our school.
Implementation
Our PSHE curriculum uses the 3D PSHE scheme which is taught through 3 core themes: Health and Well-being, Relationships and Living in the wider world. This programme allows gradual progress throughout the year groups, building upon the skills taught in previous years.
Impact
At Bewley Primary School, children will have the knowledge and skills to enable them to:
- understand the importance of looking after their physical and mental health
- develop good relationships and long lasting friendships with others
- develop the skills required to contribute to and succeed in the wider world
