Mission Statement
Bewley Primary is a welcoming and caring school. We want our children to learn to respect and value themselves and others.
At all times we aim to achieve the highest possible standards through quality teaching and learning within a creative curriculum.
Ours is a community where staff, children, parents and governors work co-operatively in a happy, secure and stimulating environment.
Together we strive to prepare our children to be effective and contributing citizens in the society they will be part of.
Every child and every adult matter at Bewley and we respect everyone in our school family.
Aims
We want our children to:
- Be positive, enthusiastic and innovative.
- Be happy in themselves and develop a high self esteem.
- Be honest, responsible and trustworthy.
- Be independent and have confidence in themselves and be motivated to achieve their full potential.
- Have a sense of ambition and the determination to succeed.
- Be well rounded individuals with empathy, tolerance, and a positive attitude who have the courage to stand up for their beliefs.
Social and Moral
We want our children to:
- Have a sense of self worth and belief in themselves as an individual, a part of the school and of the wider community. They should be aware of how they can be a good citizen by contributing in different ways to their society.
- Go into the wider community with the ability to listen to others, to respect their views and to communicate their own ideas and values. They should understand the importance of compromise and tolerance.
- Be encouraged to be compassionate and show good manners and to understand how their behaviour affects other.
- Be educated to understand what morals are, to understand the difference between right and wrong and be confident in making informed choices and not be influenced by peer pressure.
Educational
We want our children to:
- Have firm foundations in the basic skills of Literacy, Numeracy and ICT.
- Have an enquiring mind and a love of learning with high aspirations for life long learning.
- To know how to apply learning in creative and imaginative ways in order to solve problems.
- To develop a range of skills that foster independence.
Culture and Aesthetic
We want our children to:
- Understand, respect and experience different cultures and religions.
- Have a cultural awareness and appreciation of arts and music.
- Be reflective, sensitive and able to appreciate the environment and show respect for the world around them.
- Become creative and imaginative thinkers who are able to develop and care for the environment both locally and globally.
- Be adaptive in order to cope with an ever changing world and the challenges of the 21st century.
